Contract Management Disaster Recovery Test Executed

Healthcare Contract Management Disaster Recovery PlanDisaster Recovery: Though testing a disaster recovery or business continuity plan is far different from a real disaster, it is the only way to determine its validity. According to many standards institutions and organizations that focus on disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC), disaster recovery plan testing will often result in the continued success and operations of a business, even in times of a disaster. Successful tests do not prove that a disaster recovery plan will succeed, but failed tests do prove that plan will fail. And that is what makes testing so important. How often should we Test our DR Plan?

According to the Forrester and Disaster Recovery Journal's "State of Enterprise Risk Management 2016" survey, 40% of respondents report conducting annual simulations to test their disaster recovery response plans.  The report says that 27% of the respondents test more than once per year, 21% test every two years and 11% reported never having tested their DR plans at all.  Without regular testing and verification of DR plans, organizations have no ideas as to whether or not they actually will be able to recover from a disaster or extended outage.
